These experiences left her lacking confidence and struggling with her body image, especially as a plus-sized woman. In the past, she faced men who either wanted her to lose weight or fetishized her curves, leading her to consider giving up on dating and closing herself off from love.
However, fate had other plans in store for Brittany. In August 2020, she crossed paths with Matt Montgomery on Facebook. Despite their physical differences, their souls instantly connected on a profound level.
Reflecting on her initial hesitations, Brittany shared, “I’ve been in relationships where guys have told me that they will dump me if I don’t start dieting or trying to lose weight. It did affect my self-confidence, and at one point, I did start working out and trying to change my size.”
But Matt and Brittany were certain of their love for each other. In January 2022, Matt proposed, and they began planning their life together. Although they fully accept and support each other, they are constantly aware of the judgment and criticism their relationship faces from society.
Matt admitted, “People comment on Instagram and suggest that I’m not big enough or man enough for her. I do notice people staring when we walk down the street…”
Despite the negativity, their love for each other remains unwavering. Matt, who has had his share of bad experiences with conventionally sized women in the past, realized that Brittany is his true soulmate. He loves and accepts her as she is, focusing on her happiness above all else.
Not afraid to express his adoration publicly, Matt wrote glowing words about Brittany, affirming, “You are worthy, you are deserving of infinite love every single day and more. The way I look at you and feel for you and the way you look and feel for me is how I know that we are meant to be.”
Notably, Matt’s post also includes comments from rude individuals, but his unwavering support for his wife and their undeniable connection shines through. What a powerful response to the haters!
Matt and Brittany are determined to break the stigma surrounding “mixed-weight” relationships. Brittany expressed her wish for more acceptance, saying, “I wish mixed-weight relationships were more common and more in the norm.”
In March 2022, the couple welcomed their first child, Lakelyn, and just last month, they joyfully announced that they are expecting their second child together in September 2023. We extend our warmest wishes to this growing family!
Truly, there are no rigid standards when it comes to finding true love and happiness. We should all strive to accept and love one another regardless of society’s judgments. Let’s share this uplifting story with others to inspire them to embrace love and disregard the negativity from others!
