I adore my husband—he’s an amazing man who completely understands the importance of keeping things lighthearted and fun in our relationship. It’s one of the many reasons our bond feels so alive even after all these years.
Today, I decided to sprinkle a bit of harmless mischief into my day. While running errands, I found myself in the produce section of the grocery store, staring at a pile of avocados. A little idea sparked, and I thought, Why not have a bit of innocent fun?
So, I turned to a stranger nearby—a kind-looking man who seemed to be choosing his own produce—and asked for his help. “Excuse me, but I’m terrible at picking good avocados. Could you help me out?” I said with a playful smile.
His response was priceless. The man straightened up, his face lighting up as though I’d just handed him a golden opportunity. “Of course! You want them ripe but not mushy, right?” he said, diving into his avocado knowledge with enthusiasm. He gently pressed a few, inspecting them with the care of a jeweler appraising diamonds.
After a minute or two, he handed me one, declaring, “This is the one. Perfect for tomorrow!” I laughed, thanked him, and added, “You’ve just saved my dinner plans!” The look of pride on his face was so endearing, and I walked away feeling amused by how such a tiny interaction could make someone’s day.
When I got home, I told my husband about my little avocado escapade. He laughed and shook his head, saying, “You’re something else, you know that?” Moments like these remind me that a playful spirit doesn’t just keep our marriage fresh—it makes everyday life feel like an adventure.
