I’m lucky to be married to a fantastic man who truly understands that a little playful mischief now and then can work wonders for keeping our bond strong and vibrant. He’s the kind of person who appreciates life’s lighter moments, and it’s one of the many reasons I adore him.
Earlier today, during a quick grocery run, I decided to turn a mundane errand into something more fun. As I wandered into the produce section, I noticed a man meticulously inspecting the avocados. He seemed so serious, so focused, that I couldn’t resist the opportunity to break the ice.
“Excuse me,” I said with a smile, holding up an avocado, “I have no idea how to tell if these are good. Can you help me pick the best one?”
The stranger’s reaction was instant. He looked a little surprised at first, then his face broke into a delighted grin. “Oh, sure,” he said, stepping closer. “You’re looking for one that’s firm but with just a little give.”
With great care, he began examining the avocados, gently pressing them and turning them over like a seasoned produce connoisseur. After a moment, he handed me one, declaring with confidence, “This one’s perfect—just right for eating tomorrow.”
“Thank you!” I said with a laugh. “You’ve just saved my dinner plans.” His chest puffed up with pride, and he walked away looking as though he’d accomplished something truly meaningful.
Later, when I told my husband about my little adventure, he laughed, shaking his head. “You’re incorrigible,” he said with a smile, pulling me into a hug.
Moments like these remind me that life is full of opportunities to inject a little joy—and it’s that playful spark that keeps our relationship so refreshingly alive.
