Being married to an incredible man who embraces a little humor in life is such a joy. One of the things I love most about him is his understanding of how important it is to keep things fun and lighthearted. Our life together is full of laughter and small moments of mischief, and it’s those little sparks that make everything feel so vibrant.
Today, while running errands, I decided to add a touch of playfulness to an otherwise ordinary trip to the grocery store. As I wandered through the produce section, I noticed a man standing near the avocados, carefully inspecting them like he was choosing a rare gem. An idea struck me, and I thought, Why not make this a little more interesting?
I approached him with a smile and said, “Hi, I’m terrible at picking out good avocados. Any chance you could help me find the best one?”
He looked a little surprised at first but then grinned, clearly pleased to be asked. “Of course!” he said enthusiastically. “What are you planning to use it for?”
“Guacamole,” I replied, adding a playful tone.
He nodded, suddenly taking the task very seriously. Gently pressing each avocado, he explained how to tell if they were ripe but not overripe, giving me a mini masterclass in produce selection. After a few moments, he handed me one with a confident smile and said, “This is the one—guaranteed perfection!”
His genuine delight at being asked made my day as much as it seemed to make his. When I told my husband about the interaction, he laughed and said, “I don’t know whether to be jealous of your avocado expert or proud of how you spread joy everywhere you go!”
It’s moments like these—simple, cheeky, and full of laughter—that keep the air in our marriage fresh, exciting, and alive.
