When Maria’s husband sat her down one evening, she expected another conversation about their finances. He had been looking for ways to increase their income, and she was prepared for a discussion about investments or a side business. But nothing could have prepared her for what he actually suggested.
“You should consider joining the adult film industry,” he said casually, as if he were suggesting she take up yoga or painting. “You have the looks, the confidence… and let’s be honest, it pays well.”
Maria laughed at first, waiting for the punchline. But when she saw the serious expression on his face, her stomach twisted. “You’re not joking, are you?”
“Not at all,” he replied. “I think it could be good for us. Imagine the money we could make. And besides, I’m not jealous. In fact, I think this could strengthen our marriage. It could make us more open, more adventurous.”
She stared at him, searching for any hint of irony, but there was none. Was this truly how he saw their relationship? That watching her with other men would somehow bring them closer?
She didn’t know what shocked her more—the proposal itself or the ease with which he presented it. A part of her wanted to scream, to ask him if he had lost his mind. But another part of her, the one that had always been curious about life’s strange possibilities, hesitated.
“Let me think about it,” she whispered.
