Woman harshly criticized online after adopting husband’s ex-wife’s baby

Loving husband and wife Christie and Wesley Werts began their love story five years ago, becoming a blended family when they tied the knot.

Merging Christie’s daughter, Megan, with Wesley’s children, Austin and Dakota, they created a beautiful family.

Though, little did they know that their love story would take a unique turn, leading them to welcome a miracle baby, Levi, into their lives through adoption.

The journey to Levi’s adoption was a testament to the couple’s resilience and determination. Waiting for 16 months for the adoption process to finalize, the Werts family eagerly anticipated bringing their baby boy home.

However, Levi’s adoption story has a touching twist that resembles a dream come true for Christie and her family. Born in Texas in August 2021, Levi’s biological mother, Wesley’s former partner, faced challenges related to drug use during pregnancy. Tragically, she passed away four days after Levi’s premature birth at 33 weeks, a victim of addiction and complications linked to the coronavirus, according to Newsweek.

The couple found out about Levi when Wesley was given the devastating news about his ex-wife by her sister. Christie, who had experienced foster homes herself, was determined to provide Levi with a stable and loving home.

Even more remarkably, before even learning about Levi, Christie had recurring dreams about a blue-eyed blond baby for three months. This dream became a significant factor in her decision to adopt Levi when she found out about his existence.

The Werts family flew to Texas from Ohio to meet Levi through Child Protection Services, and their first meeting was exactly like Christie’s dream. “When I walked in and saw this blond-haired, blue-eyed baby, I immediately fell in love. It was a very surreal feeling. This was my son,” she said.

While the adoption process is often challenging, especially for infants, the Werts family faced further obstacles. Selling their house in Ohio and relocating to Texas for court proceedings, they had to endure a legal process that involved the termination of Levi’s biological father’s parental rights.

After 16 months of house inspections, interviews, and court appearances, Levi’s adoption was finalized, and the couple were finally able to take their baby boy home.

However, despite the heartwarming nature of the story, Christie faced criticism from some internet users who questioned her decision to share the story online.

“I mean, poor baby, he’s gonna see this when he grow up and is gonna give him a lot of depression and more,” someone remarked.

“Some things you don’t share on the media, and this is one of them?” said another user.

Other people were happy for the couple, and wrote that they wished the new family a happy live.
