After more than half a century, the USA will land a probe on the Moon that was launched on Thursday from Florida via SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
This is the first time an American private company has sent a probe to the Moon; SpaceX is owned by Elon Musk, reports Telegrafi.
The probe was built by the Houston-based aerospace company, Intuitive Machines.
The Nova-C lunar lander, nicknamed Odysseus, was launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral.
The launch scheduled for Wednesday was delayed for 24 hours due to irregular temperatures found in the liquid methane used in the probe’s propulsion system.
SpaceX said the problem was later resolved.
