Last Thursday, after another argument with my husband, I felt the need to escape and clear my mind. I told him I was going to the gym, but instead, I ended up at a dive bar on the other side of town, a place where I could be anonymous. I was sitting there, nursing a drink, when this guy slid into the seat next to me.

He had a rugged look, with a bit of stubble and a twinkle in his eye. We started chatting, and it turned out he was a musician, playing gigs at various bars around the city. There was an instant connection, a spark that I hadn’t felt in a long time.

As we talked, he shared stories of his travels and experiences, and I found myself laughing and feeling lighter than I had in months. He complimented my smile and my wit, making me feel attractive and interesting. It was thrilling and intoxicating, a stark contrast to the mundane routine I felt trapped in.

The hours flew by, and before I knew it, it was late. He offered to walk me to my car, and as we stood outside, he leaned in for a kiss. My heart raced, but I pulled back. I thanked him for the wonderful evening and explained that I was married and needed to work on my relationship.

He respected my decision, and we parted ways. Driving home, I couldn’t shake the feeling of excitement and guilt. I realized that I needed to bring this spark back into my marriage, to find that connection with my husband again.
