Rest in Peace, Alain Delon: After a Long Battle with a Serious Illness, the Actor Lost His Fight

Five years ago, he suffered a stroke, which was followed by a battle with cancer, leading to his passing.

The great French actor Alain Delon has passed away at the age of 88, his three children announced in a statement to AFP on Sunday.

The actor had struggled with various health issues for years, beginning with a stroke in 2019, and later, cancer, which eventually claimed his life.

“Alain-Fabien, Anouchka, and Anthony, along with his dog Lubo, announce with deep sorrow the death of their father. He passed away peacefully at his home in Douchy, surrounded by his three children and family,” the statement read.

The family requested the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time and to allow them to grieve in peace.

During his life, Alain Delon played numerous roles in theater and film. He was also known as a director and screenwriter. Born on November 8, 1935, in Sceaux, Seine (now Hauts-de-Seine), Île-de-France, a wealthy suburb of Paris.

His name will be remembered as one of the greats in the history of world cinema, and there’s no doubt he was one of the biggest film icons of the 20th century. Alain will be remembered for his roles in the films “Rocco and His Brothers” and “The Master of the Game.”

In addition to these roles, Alain Delon had a very successful career with notable performances in films such as “Purple Noon,” “Le Samouraï,” “Borsalino,” “The Leopard,” “The Sicilian Clan,” “The Policeman,” and many others.

At the start of his career, he was fortunate to meet actress Brigitte Auber in Paris, who introduced him to the film world and helped him secure his first roles.

Thanks to his striking looks, he garnered significant attention from the media and directors alike. His undeniable talent helped propel him to stardom.

“I’m good at three things: my work, making mischief, and raising kids,” the famous Frenchman once said.

Despite battling for his health in recent years, he never wanted anyone’s pity. He always moved forward bravely and was not afraid of death. He wanted to be remembered as a strong and cheerful person, and it seems he succeeded in that.
