She graduated from Willits High School in 1927. In 1933, she married Elmer \u201cBrick\u201d Keenan, and the two moved to Santa Rosa where they adopted a daughter.<\/p>\n<p>The family stayed in Santa Rosa until the early 1970s when they moved back to Willits. After Brick died in 1984, Edie remarried. Her second husband, Charles Ceccarelli, died in 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Edie lived alone until she was 107 years old. It was only then that she moved into an assisted living center.<\/p>\n<p>Ever since Edie turned 100, she\u2019s invited the community to help her celebrate, and this year \u2013 a major milestone \u2013 was no different.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, the day before her birthday, members of the community participated in a car parade. Edie was also treated to a birthday cake, carrot cake to be exact.<\/p>\n<p>She got very excited when she learned the cake would be carrot cake,\u201d Perla Gonzalez, one of Edie\u2019s caretakers said. \u201cShe said, \u2018Oh really, honey?,\u2019 and lit up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year at her birthday, we make sure she knows how special she is,\u201d lead parade organizer Suzanne Picetti told USA TODAY.<\/p>\n<p>Happy birthday, Edie!<\/p>\n<p>Please share and send your birthday wishes to Edie.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"font-size: 0px; height: 0px; line-height: 0px; margin: 0; padding: 0; clear: both;\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The oldest person in the United States has turned 116 years old.
