But over time, those questions became more frequent and pointed, and I realized it wasn\u2019t just curiosity\u2014it was insecurity.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll ask things like, \u201cWas he better looking than me?\u201d or \u201cDo you think about him sometimes?\u201d He compares himself to men I haven\u2019t seen or spoken to in years, as though their presence still holds weight in my life. It breaks my heart because I know he\u2019s measuring himself against a past that no longer matters to me. I\u2019ve told him time and again that he\u2019s the one I chose to spend my life with, that the love we share is deeper than anything I\u2019ve ever known.<\/p>\n<p>But the more I try to reassure him, the more I feel like I\u2019m battling an invisible force. His struggle with retroactive jealousy isn\u2019t just about the men from my past; it\u2019s about his own fears and doubts, fears that I can\u2019t simply erase with kind words or declarations of love.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s exhausting, and honestly, it\u2019s starting to affect how I feel, too. I\u2019m beginning to wonder if this is something we can move past, or if it will always linger between us, casting a shadow over the life we\u2019re trying to build together.
