It manifests as an ongoing need to compare himself to the people I was involved with before we met.<\/p>\n<p>At first, it seemed harmless\u2014just a few questions here and there about my past relationships. &#8220;What kind of person was he?&#8221; or &#8220;How long were you two together?&#8221; I didn\u2019t think much of it. After all, we\u2019ve all been curious about our partner\u2019s history at some point. But over time, the questions became more frequent and pointed, and I began to sense an underlying insecurity in his tone.<\/p>\n<p>He often brings up my exes in conversations that have nothing to do with them, almost as if he\u2019s looking for ways to measure himself against people who are no longer in my life. He\u2019ll ask things like, &#8220;Was he funnier than me?&#8221; or &#8220;Did he treat you better?&#8221; It\u2019s as if he\u2019s trapped in an internal competition with ghosts from my past.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve tried to reassure him countless times. I\u2019ve reminded him that I love him for who he is, that my past experiences only brought me to where I am now\u2014with him. But no matter how often I tell him he\u2019s enough, it doesn\u2019t seem to fully sink in.<\/p>\n<p>This behavior is straining our relationship. I know insecurity is a part of human nature, but this feels deeper\u2014like a wound that refuses to heal. I\u2019ve suggested therapy, but he\u2019s reluctant to acknowledge the seriousness of the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Is this kind of behavior unusual?
