He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a smoother, more intimate tone. \u201cYou\u2019ve got a lot of potential,\u201d he said, watching me closely. \u201cAnd I think it\u2019s time you got the recognition you deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I smiled, feeling proud for a moment. \u201cThat means a lot coming from you,\u201d I replied.<\/p>\n<p>But then he said it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne night with me,\u201d he murmured, taking a sip of his drink. \u201cAnd I\u2019ll make sure you get that promotion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I froze, my mind struggling to process what I had just heard. At first, I thought it was a joke\u2014some horribly inappropriate attempt at humor. But the look in his eyes told me he was serious.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know I\u2019m married,\u201d I finally managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.<\/p>\n<p>He shrugged, completely unfazed. \u201cI do,\u201d he admitted. \u201cBut that doesn\u2019t have to matter. This is business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A sick feeling settled in my stomach. I had worked hard to get where I was, believing my talent and effort would be enough. But in his eyes, my success had a price\u2014and he was the one setting it.<\/p>\n<p>I gripped my glass tightly, my pulse pounding in my ears.
