The production is also headlined by\u00a0<em>Ray Donovan<\/em>\u00a0star Liev Schreiber.<\/p>\n<p>But on Friday, the day the show was supposed to begin previews, she was unexpectedly hospitalized, forcing her to withdraw from the play to receive medical care.<\/p>\n<p>Roundabout Theatre Company, the nonprofit company producing the show, noted in a press release that Daly was \u201cthankfully expected to make a full recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-d725e43202e83d69ab82fa79175adab0\" class=\"newsner-d725e43202e83d69ab82fa79175adab0 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>Isabel Keating, a Tony nominee for playing Judy Garland in\u00a0<em>The Boy from Oz<\/em>, is now filling in as Daly\u2019s understudy. Beginning on February 13, the role will be assumed by Oscar and Tony nominee Amy Ryan.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan received a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination for\u00a0<em>Gone Baby Gone<\/em>, and is known for her TV roles including Michael Scott\u2019s love interest Holly on\u00a0<em>The Office<\/em>, Beadie Russell on\u00a0<em>The Wire<\/em>\u00a0and Jan on\u00a0<em>Only Murders in the Building<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>She also received Tony nominations for her Broadway roles in\u00a0<em>A Streetcar Named Desire\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00a0Uncle Vanya<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith respect and admiration for Tyne, we wish her the best and a quick recovery. But it\u2019s still a dramatic, last-minute upheaval for the production. Daly, a longtime familiar veteran of stage and screen, had long been promoted as one of the show\u2019s headlining stars.<\/p>\n<p>While theater actors miss shows for health reasons pretty frequently (especially during the covid era) it\u2019s rare for a show to lose its leading lady so close to opening.<\/p>\n<p>Many have wished Tyne Daly good health and a full recovery.<\/p>\n<p><em>Doubt<\/em>\u00a0won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play in 2005. Set in a Catholic school in 1964, the plot revolves around a nun who accuses a parish priest of inappropriate relations with a young student. It was made into a 2008 film, starring Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Philip Seymour Hoffman.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s sad to hear that the great Tyne Daly had to drop out of\u00a0<em>Doubt<\/em>\u00a0so suddenly \u2014 we are wishing her the best and a full recovery &#x2764;&#xfe0f;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n\n<div style=\"font-size: 0px; height: 0px; line-height: 0px; margin: 0; padding: 0; clear: both;\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tyne Daly, 77, has suddenly dropped out of an upcoming Broadway play after being hospitalized for an illness.
