I guess I could have died at any time,\u201d the now 77-year-old singer said.<\/p>\n<p>And then he had life-threatening complications following surgery for prostate cancer in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t really know how close to death I was,\u201d John, then 72, said of the frightening moment. \u201cI was ill because I kept saying, \u2018Please let me get well. I want to see my kids.\u2019 But I had tubes coming out of every part of my body, and it took me seven weeks to recover from that when I went home.\u201dhttps:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FEltonJohn%2Fposts%2Fpfbid023rSEDLtJF5TGeEb9ZF1pijRNDniXj9M8EjnueJbTRaVAV8LRzUW1UgQr4c7A8Venl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500<\/p>\n<p>Then through his social media channels,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/eltonofficial\/status\/1438427445032415232\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John announced<\/a>\u00a0that after suffering a hip injury, he was forced to push back his 2021 European tour dates to 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am forced to rescheduled the 2021 dates of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Europe and U.K. to 2023,\u201d the father of two shares.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since\u2026I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-84483\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/08\/05204943\/eltonjohn5.jpg\" alt=\"Elton John\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Shutterstock\/Tony Norkus<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He ends the September 16, 2021 post thanking his fans and adds, \u201cIt breaks my heart to keep you waiting any longer, I completely feel your frustrations after the year we\u2019ve had.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-limited-vision\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Limited vision<\/h2>\n<p>On September 3, 2024, the \u201cRocket Man\u201d singer shared a social media post, explaining to his 8 million followers, that he has \u201csevere eye infection\u201d that has greatly impacted his vision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the summer, I\u2019ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye. I am healing, but it\u2019s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,\u201d writes the EGOT winner (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards).<\/p>\n<p>He then goes on to say that he\u2019s \u201cquietly recuperating at home\u201d and is feeling \u201cpositive about the progress.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-you-are-an-icon\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018You are an icon\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Fans jumped into the comments section, offering their thoughtful wishes to the \u201cSacrifice\u201d singer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDear Elton John, you have brought us so much joy in your music and all your endeavors, especially your advocacy work,\u201d starts one netizen. \u201cI am sending thoughts and prayers for your journey of healing for a full recovery!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A second shares, \u201cYou are such a wonderful man!!
