Shadows of the Past

Spread the love

When I found out he was cheating, it felt like everything went dark. He was my partner, my best friend—or so I thought. I saw the messages between him and another woman, the flirtation that left no room for doubt. At first, I wanted to confront him, to scream and demand answers. But then I had a better idea.

There was someone from my past, a man I had once cared about but left behind for the life I thought I wanted. I reached out, curious to see if the old spark was still there. It was. I found comfort in his words, his laugh, and the warmth he offered so freely. We met up, and just like that, I felt a part of myself reawaken, as though I was reclaiming something that had been taken from me.

I went home that night with a sense of closure I hadn’t expected. I no longer felt the need to accuse or argue. My silent revenge was my freedom, and I moved forward knowing I’d taken back a piece of myself he would never touch.
