Today was one of those laid-back days that make me truly appreciate simple pleasures. Two of my husband’s friends, well, mine too, came over to visit. We decided to spend the afternoon by the pool, soaking in the warm sun and enjoying each other’s company. I was sitting on a lounge chair, my toes dipping into the cool water, while my husband and Kevin were deep in conversation. Their voices blended into the background—a mix of laughter and serious tones as they discussed something I couldn’t quite catch.
Meanwhile, Nick had taken a different interest entirely. He had his phone out and was snapping pictures of me. At first, I wasn’t sure if I should feel flattered or awkward, but then I caught myself smiling. He kept adjusting angles, stepping back, and asking me to tilt my head just so. “You’ve got to see this one, it’s all you,” he said, showing me a picture where the sunlight danced on the water and highlighted my features in a way I didn’t often notice.
I couldn’t help but wonder if Nick might have a hidden talent for photography. “Is this mine?” I asked, pointing at the photo. “Looks too good to be me.” He laughed, assuring me it was all me and not just his skills with the camera.
As I watched him snap another shot, I realized how relaxed I felt. This moment was mine to enjoy, surrounded by people I cared about, with no worries or distractions. It was nice to see my husband so animated with Kevin while I had a little spotlight of my own.
By the end of the afternoon, I decided that Nick might indeed be a great photographer, but the real beauty was in how he captured me feeling truly at ease.
