Don’t get me wrong—I’m happily married to an amazing man who knows me well enough to understand that a little playful mischief is just part of who I am. We’ve built a relationship full of love, laughter, and a few lighthearted pranks along the way. It’s one of the ways we keep things fresh, even after all these years.
Today was one of those moments. While running errands, I found myself in the produce section, standing in front of a mountain of avocados. They all looked identical, and I honestly had no clue which one was ripe enough for the guacamole I had planned. Then it hit me—why not make this ordinary moment a little more interesting?
I spotted a man nearby, probably in his early 40s, browsing through the tomatoes. Summoning my inner charm, I approached him with a smile and said, “You look like someone who knows his avocados. Any chance you could help me pick the perfect one?”
His face lit up, and I could see the little boost of confidence it gave him. “Of course!” he said, clearly flattered. He took the task very seriously, squeezing a few avocados and explaining how to find one that’s just the right amount of soft. By the time he handed me the chosen avocado, we were both chuckling over how much thought goes into guacamole prep.
As I walked away, avocado in hand, I couldn’t help but smile. It was such a small, innocent interaction, but it reminded me how fun it can be to bring a little lightness to someone’s day. And when I got home and told my husband about it? He laughed, shook his head, and said, “That’s why I love you—you always keep life interesting.”
