I love being married to a man who understands that our relationship thrives on fun, spontaneity, and a little mischief now and then. He knows me so well and embraces my playful side, which makes every day feel just a bit more exciting.
Take today, for example. I was at the grocery store, my mind on the guacamole I planned to make later. Standing in front of the mountain of avocados, I realized I had no idea how to pick the perfect one. It’s one of those things that always trips me up—too hard, and it’ll never ripen; too soft, and it’s already gone bad.
Then inspiration struck. Why not make this mundane moment more fun? I spotted a man nearby, casually browsing the apples, and decided to take a chance. Flashing my best smile, I approached him and said, “Excuse me, I’m terrible at this. Can you help me pick the perfect avocado? You look like you’d know exactly what to do.”
He looked a little surprised at first, but then his face lit up, and he laughed. “Well, I don’t know if I’m an expert, but let’s see!” He walked over and got to work, explaining how to gently press the avocado near the stem to test its ripeness. He even shared a little trick about checking for subtle color changes around the skin.
As he handed me the chosen avocado, he grinned like he’d just saved the day. I couldn’t help but laugh and thank him, and I left feeling unexpectedly cheerful.
When I got home, I told my husband the story, and he burst out laughing. “Only you could charm someone over an avocado,” he teased.
Moments like these remind me how delightful life can be with a little spontaneity—and how much I adore being with someone who celebrates my quirks and keeps the love fresh and the laughter constant.
