There was a moment when I realized my heart had stopped being seen. It wasn’t dramatic—no shouting matches or sudden revelations. It was quieter than that. It was in the way he walked past me without a glance, the way my thoughts and feelings seemed to fall into a void, unheard and unacknowledged. I felt like a shadow in my own life, present but unnoticed, as though the spark that made me me had dimmed and no one cared enough to reignite it.
At first, I blamed myself. Maybe I wasn’t trying hard enough, or maybe I had become too ordinary, too predictable. But then I realized something—I had spent so much time trying to fit into the mold of what others needed me to be that I had forgotten to nurture my own light. My heart wasn’t being seen because I had stopped letting it shine.
That realization changed everything. It wasn’t easy to admit that I needed something different, something more. But I knew I couldn’t stay in the shadows any longer. Even if it meant stepping into the unknown, I was ready to find my light again.
I started with small, deliberate steps. I said yes to new experiences that felt exciting and terrifying all at once. I surrounded myself with people who valued me for who I truly am, not just the roles I play. I began journaling, running, and traveling to unfamiliar places—all things that reminded me of my strength and resilience.
This journey isn’t about leaving the familiar behind; it’s about expanding beyond it. It’s about choosing to live boldly and unapologetically, seeking joy and connection wherever I can find it. My light was never gone—it was just waiting for me to claim it again. And now, I refuse to let it fade.
