A Little Avocado Adventure

I’m happily married to an amazing man who knows me inside and out. He understands that a little playfulness can go a long way in keeping our relationship fun and fresh. We’ve always embraced this idea of not taking life—or each other—too seriously. And today, I decided to add a little twist to my day.

It all started in the produce aisle at the grocery store. There I was, staring at a pile of avocados, pretending to be utterly clueless about which one to pick. I spotted a man nearby who seemed approachable, and with a little grin, I turned to him and said, “Excuse me, can you help me? I have no idea how to pick the perfect avocado.”

The way his face lit up was priceless. He looked both flattered and eager to help, diving into an explanation about ripeness and the perfect amount of softness. I nodded along, hanging on his every word like he was teaching me a life-changing skill. At one point, he even picked up a couple of avocados and gently squeezed them, handing me one with a proud smile, declaring, “This one’s perfect.”

We laughed, exchanged a few more lighthearted words, and I thanked him before heading to the checkout. As I walked away, I couldn’t help but smile. It wasn’t about the stranger or the avocado—it was about stepping outside the routine, adding a dash of excitement to an ordinary day.

Later, when I told my husband about my little escapade, he laughed and said, “Well, did you at least get a good avocado out of it?” Moments like these remind me how important it is to keep things light, fun, and unexpected in life—and in love. Sometimes, a little harmless flirting can make all the difference in refreshing the air in a marriage!
