Mom Of Black & White Twins Says People Always Ask If Both Are Hers

Most parents would likely be excited to hear that they are set to have twins. Naturally, there is some added stress and uncertainty about the future, but also the doubling of joy and happiness in the family. Fraternal twins are conceived when a mother releases two eggs during the same cycle. Two different sperm fertilize these eggs. Identical twins are conceived from one egg and one sperm. So, identical twins share 100% of their DNA, but fraternal twins only share 50%.

Generally, women who undergo fertility treatment have a higher chance of conceiving twins, according to Very Well Family, as well as women who have a family history of conceiving twins as multiples. There are many other factors that can determine if a woman will have twins, such as height and weight as well. Either way, a mother with twins is generally excited to see her children.

In an incredible story, one Nigerian mother found out she was pregnant with identical twins, and she was in for quite a surprise when the babies were born in February 2019. The identical twin brothers were delivered via cesarean and left everyone in the delivery room taken aback because the first baby was born with brown skin, while his brother was born with pale skin and golden hair.

This may seem like a miracle of sorts, but the second boy was born with albinism, which meant that his skin and hair would be totally different from his brother’s. Read on to learn more about Stacy Omirin, the mother, and her two beautiful boys.

Pregnancy is a life-changing event for many parents. Every doctor’s visit reveals new information about the growing fetus, like their gender, height, heartbeat and weight. As the pregnancy progresses, parents can even see the babies and their expressions through the ultrasound, especially with the advent of 3-D and 4-D ultrasounds.

Some questions about a new baby cannot be answered until after birth, however. For example, an anatomy scan cannot tell you the skin color, nose shape, or color of the eyes. Parents have an idea of what their child looks like, but will not fully know until after the baby is born.

According to The Sun, Stacy Omirin found out she was pregnant with identical twins in 2018. She lives in Nigeria, and there was no way for her to know what the twins would look like. Stacey had to deliver the twin boys through a cesarean section. However, the doctors were surprised when the babies were not identical. It would be impossible for the parents to mix up the babies. Daniel was the first baby born. His features were like his parents’. Daniel has dark brown skin with black hair. David was the second baby born. He has a pale skin tone and golden-colored hair.

“There’re always side talks whenever we go out, people often wanna know how and what’s happening and maybe due to their cute and adorable nature, you just wanna come close to say hello,” Stacy shared.

Stacy also told Metro UK, “I have to answer questions all the time when we are out. People say ‘Excuse me madam, which one of the kids is yours?’”

She explained, “I just say both of them are mine and people look at me as if I am joking.”

The twins are biologically identical, but David has a rare genetic disorder known as Oculocutaneous albinism. This disorder occurs when the body cannot produce melanin. People with this condition usually have very pale skin, light eyes, and white hair.

Some people with albinism can produce a little melanin, but they still have light eyes, hair, and skin. Albinism also can cause other medical problems, such as vision impairment. The good news, however, is that David was born healthy, according to news outlets.

Stacey did an interview with Bored Panda where she elaborated on her reaction to having an albino son who also has an identical twin brother. She said, “Their dad was really overwhelmed and immediately named My Twin 2 (David) ‘Golden,’ so he fondly calls him Mr. Golden. He was all overjoyed seeing his boys. He stood for more than 10 minutes staring at them and said he was just looking at God’s wonderful work and that they are his best gift ever.”

Stacy added, “The family thinks they are wonderful and they are very popular in our family. They are so beautiful and cute and to all of us, they are adorable.” Stacy also said that since Daniel and David’s birth, some women in Nigeria have told her they will “pray” to one day give birth to twins like Daniel and David.

The proud mother also described the differences between her boys, “Daniel is more expressive while David is an observer. Both of them are highly inquisitive. Daniel is a foodie while David is quite picky; Daniel is extremely playful while David chooses moments; Daniel always likes to play the bigger brother role; they are both energetic.”
